I was invited to a debate about IASPIS1 in Göteborg, to hold a short introduction about my way of working and the art scene here. It was a discussion about different ideas how Göteborgs art scene should (or could) be connected to IASPIS The evening discussion was interesting, and revealing, both in how Göteborg emotionally is connected to Stockholm (from where the money (and power?) is distributed) and the rest of the world. But the discussion that revealed it self during the evening must be just the beginning of a much bigger and important understanding and debate about how the art life in this city is part of a global world. I am a strong believer of that if we do not start to professionally use the informal structures of this city, we wont be able to achieve much. The main importance here is not the institutions in them self. What makes it possible for me to stay and work in this city is the informal structures. People, colleges, and there networks is what makes the importance. Part of the misunderstanding during the evening was how we divided people in to three categories, local, national and international. This is not a good way of thinking, mainly because it do not tell anything. Most of the artist that took part of the discussion are part of all three categories already. When I got the invitation to be part of the debate and to have a ten minutes speech, the overachieving me could not resist it self. Mandatory College Courses and Prerequisites Very Troubling

We have a huge problem in our local community colleges, especially when it comes to graduating high school seniors that have taken honors or advanced placement courses in HS and then they go into college. They've worked very hard and struggled through the advanced placement courses while in HS, but then they are still forced to take prerequisite classes in college. It turns out that many of these prerequisite classes are nothing more than review for them.

This causes several problems. First, the college student who wants to really learn, gets bored, loses interest in school and gets quite frustrated. Especially considering that they want to get into a four year school they have to take the other classes, but before they take the other classes they must complete prerequisites which are copy classes from what they had in high school.

The colleges say; "We have to make sure the students know this material otherwise they will fail the upper classes." Whereas, this may be true, it negates the entire purpose of having advanced placement courses in HS. Students that work hard in high school should get a leg up on the world not be penalized for their academic sacrifices.

Next, another problem that occurs is that many of the former Advance Placement students in the prerequisite classes, hurt the grading-curve for the other kids who are just now being introduced to this material. This makes it harder for the other students that did not take advanced placement trying to complete the prerequisites.

In fact, it turns out to be unfair to everyone involved, all the students that is. The community college of course, doesn't see a problem because they have filled up all their classrooms and created more revenue in fees. I am very troubled by all this, how about you?

Lyrical Abstraction refers to Post-war Modernist term, often used interchangeably with Art Informel and Abstract Expressionism that grew in Europe, precisely in France, in 1945 and lasted up to around late 1957. In 1946, a French art critic Charles Estienne formally coined the term 'Lyrical Abstraction.' In America,this Abstraction was a movement described by Larry Aldrich in 1969. The name 'Tachisme' was also used to depict this movement.

o European Lyrical Abstraction: When, post World War II, France was busy resurrecting its image
devastated due to collaboration and occupation, some art lovers decided to restore the position of Paris as art hub as well, as it was, until the World War. Bringing plan to action, several exhibitions were held in Paris. George Mathieu's two exhibitions "Abstraction Lyrique" in Paris in 1947, and when Francis Picabia, Francis Stahly sculptor, Georges Mathieu, Michel Tapié, and Camille Bryen, Wols, Hans Hartung, and Riopelle in 1948, delivered some remarkable trends on canvas. Other than teaching/choreographing Tokyo recently concluded his position as Co-Director of one of the largest dance competitions in the industry, Hall Of Fame Dance Challenge and is looking forward to progressing with his teaching and choreography. During the weeks of the Latin Views 2008 Exhibition numerous schools and colleges visited this interesting show of Art. Students remained impressed by the power of the Latin Art and impregnated their minds with new and exitantes design and aesthethics ideas. During the Latin Views 2008 exhibit the Latin Network for the Visual Arts (LNVA) provided buses to bring local area students to this international exhibit. Over 450 students enjoyed private tours to view the works of thirty-six contemporary artists from fifteen Latin countries. These guided visits were given in English, Spanish and French by members of the LNVA board, which includes a local Peruvian visual artist. Following up on these tours students and teachers were interviewed at their respective schools to get their inputs on this exciting exhibit and were encouraged to give their comments in English, Spanish, Creole or French.
